OMG
The game is free. If you wanna go chop wood, fish, or mine pay 10-15 dollars a month. But that is not what this game is about its about fighting-> Guild Wars...fighting not mining or collecting resources is gonna win you this game. Just do me a favor and stop whinning and go back to ur Everquest. |

Sounds quite clear to me you played some PvE, then got disappointed because there were no Geonosian Bees or E2-like UBER FARMING places. Guess what, you're right. Try some PvP in WoW, SWG or (laughable) Everquest 2. It's really a sad spectacle. Basically you swing your UBER sword in the air and a 6 mts distant foe gets hit. Cool. |

I am not sure what to make of this thread. Most of the replies in here take the view that the PvE in GW is paltry and uninteresting. I bought the game thinking that I would be doing mainly PvP. Well, several weeks after starting the game, I have logged 60 hours and everyone of them has been PvE, and I am only level 17. I have not even tried PvP yet, and I am having a blast. To say that the PvE in GW is an after thought makes no sense to me.

When I purchased the game called Guild Wars, I realized that I had forfeit my right to complain about non guild or war related things.
Go play Fishing Wars if you crave fish death so much. |

I'm surprised at how many people think this game has grind/kill grind. Have any of you ever played Ragnarok Online?

I'm kinda sick of seeing these threads, not everyone can like every game. If you don't like it, I don't care. Just play something else, do NOT come onto a forum for it to complain about how boring it is.
Mining? How the hell is mining fun? If you think this is hack and slash you can't be very far in the game. Later you actually have to coordinate and use strategy. Marriage is just lame and would attract so many nerds. Fishing? Another large WHAT THE ****. This isn't real life, we don't NEED to eat, nor do we WANT to eat. This is, and always will be, a game. Nothing more nothing less. I don't want to eat in the game, I don't want to mine, I don't want to go to the bathroom, I don't want to get married. 'nuff said. If you don't like it stop playing. EDIT: By the way, I love how you can beat every mission in this game in a week if you want to and you consider THAT grind. Yeah thats it man... A week to beat the whole game GRIND FEST. I know games where it takes weeks to beat the games, some even months to beat the game or get to the max level. |

I have been playing video games going on 19 years now, dont you think i would be the first to throw this game out the window? No because in my extensive experience with gaming I have come to understand what context and intention a video game studio/company ect. has when they create a certain game. I like the fact that the game is a story/mission drivin onslaught meant to put you into PVP play ie tons of skills and items to unlock. Level cap at 20? they wanted to you to focus on playing PVP more than mindless leveling.
To the person who is disappointed with not being able to fish or marry and the like it seems you are more dissapointed with the game outside of its core game play values. Last edited by Moltov joss; Jun 05, 2005 at 06:54 PM // 18:54.. |

The PvE in GuildWars is amazing.. I like it more than any other online games.
I think the people who might have the most fun in GuildWars right now are the one who enjoy as much PvP as they enjoy PvE. They actualy have double the fun than people who only enjoy either PvP or PvE are having. Right now the PvE only people feel the game is too short and miss things to do like fishing or chopping wood or just having more different missions to do. And there's the PvP only people who think it's too long to get everything ready to be competitive as they would like(and i agree with them that it might be a pain to get everything ready when you only want to PvP right away(like the game was advertizing in 2004).. Just as much as it would be a pain if we had to win HoH or be in the top 10 in the ladder in order to play PvE to its fullest.) I'm fully PvE right now and still enjoy it very much.. but that doesn't mean i wont move to PvP someday and enjoy it also. So for people who feel like the game is lacking in the PvE part. Maybe its the time you try some PvP to see if you like it. If you don't like it at all there's always the option of playing another game at the same time you play GuildWars.. I know other game seem boring after you played GuildWars. Everyone who played Beta Weekend Event felt the same every months. But maybe after you have played a bit of something else you will enjoy GuildWars again as much as you did the first month you played. This is just a suggestion. |

Which one outnumbers the other, the complaints about grind or the complaints about the shortness of PvE?

This is why it's harmful that people keep referring to GW as an MMORPG. There *is* a difference between an MMGS (massively mutiplayer game service) and an OCG (online computer game). GW is an OCG. Yes, it simulates aspects of an MMGS, but there is a reason MMGSs cost monthly service charges. I've explained that topic too many times, and gave up on trying to get that battle won. There are too many people with no professional experience that simply can't grasp the costs involved in doing what they think should be there for cheap/free. GW is fun for what it is- a hybrid rpg/3D diablo 2 with a robust virtual lobby built in-game. If you like crafting, etc. you'll find the most fun in seeking out rare items in GW- there's alot of detail work invovled, much like crafting in other games. Besides, the crafting systems always break because people overcharge or give stuff away for free. Until they come up with a fix to the design concept in all MMGSs, ultimately crafting is moot. |

You know... there is such a game that I find you'll enjoy shadowz. It's called Runescape.
